ADDTIONAL INFORMATION
Harvesting is essential for collecting crops at their peak quality. For oil palms, this starts at 3 years old, with fruit maturing in 4-6 months. The ripe fruit, which is red, orange, and blackish, is held by two fronds that need to be clipped. Harvesting should occur every 7-10 days for optimal quality. Using tools like sickles or chisels, workers cut the two fronds holding the fruit. Careful selection of the fruit is crucial to avoid unproductive plants (VOPS). After harvesting, the fruit must be processed quickly to maintain quality. Routine tasks, such as trimming flower trees and clearing dried leaves, help keep the plantation healthy and productive.
