Week 7 

Mulching

Place: ladang Agrotech plantation (UiTM Jasin)

Assalamualaikum hi everyone, Syazni syairazi was here. This week 7. After we do transplant we must be plant in good condition. Because that we must protect plant  form derect sunlight and weather uncertain. The plant is to small for that because that we do mulching to protect that. We use fronds of palm leaves. This activity is done under the supervision of the staff of the farm management unit Mr. Naim also he teaches how to make mulching and he tell benefits mulching.

Mulching is usually to save water, suppress weeds and improve the soil around plants. Important things protect plants from direct sunlight because after we do transplant, plants are still small enough to get direct light. Before that we put seed tray in greenhouse so sunlight not directly on plants. Due to that we do mulching we dont plant shock and died.

Benefits mulching

- limit the plant from being exposed direct sunlight

- limit water loss from the soil surface and maintain soil moisture

- reduced the hot soil temperature due to sunlight and makes the soil cooler on hot days and warmer.

- cover and protect the soil by reducing soil compaction and soil erosion

Plus every morning and afternoon we will the plants to make sure the plants always gets water for the enlargement process.

Challenge

For this week is us machete to take palm leaves to use for mulching. It risk of hand injury the we are required to wear gloves to avoid that incident. Second weather to hot we measured plants get fully water.

Reflection

For this week i learn how to mulching and benefits and i must consistently water my plant to be successful results.  Than a must careful use machete.
